Closing Remarks of Secretary, DARE & DG, ICAR in Prep-SOM of 7^th AIMMAF on 25^th October, 2022

Excellencies, Ladies & Gentlemen      

  1. I would like to express my thanks & gratitude to the Senior Officers of Ministries of Agriculture of the ASEAN Member for very constructive deliberations today which helped finalization of the Agenda of the 7^th ASEAN- India Meeting of Ministers of Agriculture & Agroforestry (AIMMAF), the progress report on Medium Term Action Plan of ASEAN-India cooperation and the Joint Press Statement.

  2. I believe that the ASEAN-India relations shall be further strengthened to solve the complex challenges facing agriculture, food systems and supply chains, and help access to adequate, safe, and nutritious food. The ASEAN-India partnership may work in diverse areas to promote diversification of production systems, efficient utilization of water resources and fertilizers, soil health management, post-harvest management and transboundary diseases and digital technologies in agriculture.

  3. I thank the Co-chair Lao PDR for joining me in this Preparatory SOM and also thank ASEAN Secretariat for supporting us in successful hosting of the meeting.
